Havdalah
I am grateful to Roy Swisa of the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis, who happened to be here in Israel with a Birthright group and staying at our hotel, and to know one of the students on the trip and bump into them, for extending an invitation to our group to participate in their havdalah ceremony. This brief ceremony marks the end of the sabbath - the word havdalah literally means "separation," and thus the shift from the special restful time of the sabbath into the ordinary time of the working week. I don't have any photos to share, and not everyone opted to participate in this evening activity after another long and busy day. But for those of us who did, it was a wonderful opportunity.
