The
conflict started when both Israeli and Palestinian claimed the land between the
Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, which is also known as a historical
Palestine.
After WWI,
British took over the area of historical Palestine from Ottoman Empire and the
area became one of British’s territories. As the result, British managed the
government system of the people (Jews and Arabs) who were living in the
territory from 1918 to 1948. During these times, there were several revolts
between Arabs and Jews until British handed over the issue to the United
Nations in 1946. In 1947, the General Assembly of the United Nations suggested
the partition plan to divided the historical Palestine into two states: one for
Jews and one for Arabs. The fighting between the Israeli and Palestinian
started as soon as the Jews proclaimed the state of Israel in May 1948 because
Arabs did not accept the partition. At the first war break out, Palestinian
lost so Israel was able to keep their territory. Since 1948, there were various
wars and conflicts between Israel and its neighbor Arabs’ states. To conclude,
the conflict is still ongoing and Israelis and Palestinian cannot reach
agreement until now.
